Cuba: proof of travel insurance required

Starting May 1, 2010, the Government of Cuba requires a proof of travel insurance that includes coverage for medical expenses. The new regulation applies to all travellers, whether foreigners or Cubans living abroad, entering Cuba by water or air.

We strongly recommend that you obtain your insurance documents before arriving in Cuba. This measure will prevent unexpected delays, unplanned expenditures, and possible communication problems, because transactions will mostly be in Spanish. Prepare in advance and leave with peace of mind!

For more information to help plan your next trip to Cuba, contact the Cuban embassy, consulate, or tourist board nearest you.
