The French Capital of Gastronomy

Sacred world capital of gastronomy, the city of silk and humour contains several excellent museums. Indeed, the Museum of Fine Art possesses one of the most important collections of paintings after the Louvre in Paris. The impressive Old Town with its 500-acre territory and its architectural heritage is a UNESCO-protected site. Take advantage of your trip to attend the Theatre du Grand-Guignol (literally “the Big Puppet Show”) – where this distinctive theatrical genre was invented. Truly a can’t-miss, Lyon’s gracious old town is home to an extraordinary herbalist’s shop, one of France’s last remaining such establishments.

Auteur: Rosemary

Founded in 910, the Benedictine monks were there until the French Revolution when most of the buildings were destroyed. It is now maintained as a museum. This is a view of the South Transept with the Holy Water Belfry (Clocher de l'Eau-Bénite) with the Burgundy Hills in the background

Le Cep Hotel / Beaune

Auteur: Kathleen

Quite unassuming from the outside, this wonderful, quaint hotel was charming. Converted from a private estate, it was warm and inviting. Such a great first impression of France. We loved this hotel; it still has old world charm. The outdoor courtyard was a wonderful place to eat. We walked the streets of Beaune and loved the beautiful architecture.
