Cozumel Overview

The scuba-diver's paradise

Cozumel is the biggest island in Mexico, surrounded by turquoise waters and a spectacular string of coral reef. Since the release of a documentary film by marine explorer Jacques Cousteau in 1961, Cozumel has become a choice location and is visited by thousands of scuba divers every year.

Hundreds of cruise ships also make stopovers here. The surrounding waters abound in countless aquatic species, colourful reefs and the remains of sunken Spanish galleons. In fact, more than 20% of visitors to Cozumel are scuba divers! Other visitors can observe an extraordinary variety of migratory birds that spend a portion of the year here. Or they can visit the Parque Chankanaab, go shopping, go fishing, or simply relax on one of the island's many magnificent beaches.
