Treasure island

A special aura permeates the coast of Jamaica. Indeed, another world seems to lie behind this island of thick, sprawling vegetation situated in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. But this aura is instantly dispelled on seeing the great mountains that once sprung from the depths to form this tropical paradise.

With a total surface area of some 10,990 km² (6,825 sq mi), Jamaica is the third-largest island in the Caribbean. It lies 145 km (90 mi) south of Cuba and 160 km (100 mi) from Haiti.
