San José Excursions

A small, earthly paradise

Imagine lush forests spread over terraced hills, pastoral countryside and magnificent, verdant fields -- surrounded on all sides by majestic, volcanic mountains and dominated by a large, vibrant city.

MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK
Manuel Antonio contains several short trails, all easily accessible. These are the best way to see both whitefaced and squirrel monkeys, the coastline’s spectacular views and some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful white sand beaches.
CROCODILE ADVENTURE & BIRDWATCHING
The Tarcoles River is home to the Great American Crocodile, measuring up to 23 feet. A trip downstream will take you to the Guacalillo Mangroves, nesting place of the Scarlet Macaw. On both sides of the river you will see numerous species of birds such as pelicans, ospreys, frigates and trogons.
ARENAL VOLCANO & HOT SPRINGS
This volcano rises majestically out of the lush pastures and forest on the eastern end of Lake Arenal. Intermittent explosions draw people by day and night, although the best time to see the red-hot molten lava enveloping the top of the cone is after dark.
CANOPY TOUR
This exciting tour lets you swing through the virgin tropical forest on a system of cables and platforms. Accompanied by professional guides, you’ll feel an adrenaline rush as you climb to the top for a bird’s eye view of the terrain.
MONTE VERDE SKY WALK
A peaceful and enjoyable hike along the forest canopy. See the marvels of the cloud forest, and perhaps spot a quetzal and some bellbirds flitting through the trees, along with iridescent hummingbirds hovering around in search of nectar.
POAS VOLCANO & COFFEE PLANTATION
Visit Costa Rica’s oldest and most famous national park, whose main attraction, the Poas Crater, is an astounding 1.3 km wide. Continue to Doka Estate Coffee Plantation, where you will learn about the production, harvesting, processing and roasting of coffee.
TORTUGA ISLAND CRUISE
Take a luxurious yacht across the Gulf of Nicoya to the tropical island of Tortuga, known for its crystalline waters, palm trees, white sand and natural splendour. The ideal place for snorkelling, walking, swimming or just relaxing in the tropical sun!
CARARA NATIONAL PARK
You will have the opportunity to admire a great diversity of birds, reptiles and mammals, and the chance to see Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean surfer’s paradise - Jaco Beach.
