Passports and Visas

Passengers require a valid passport or visa for travel to most destinations. Are you in possession of these documents? Visit our Passport and Visas section for details.

Air Transat Baggage regulations

Your flight may not be operated by Air Transat. Should this be the case (CanJet flight or other), please read this Important notice.

Please make sure to consult the Increased Security Measures implemented by North American and European authorities that override any Air Transat regulations.

For details about our free baggage allowance in Economy and Club Class, baggage size, excess baggage fees or the transportation of sports, medical or other equipment, consult what you can bring. Please ensure you are aware of the strict regulations concerning the transportation of dangerous goods and food products.

See our Kiloflex section to find out how you can save on excess baggage fees.

Luggage that exceeds the accepted dimensions will have to be transported via Air Transat's Cargo department and may be refused at check-in. Air Transat reserves the right to limit or refuse excess baggage for operational reasons.

For information about Air Transat’s policy concerning missing or damaged luggage, consult the lost or delayed baggage section and damaged baggage section respectively.

Carrying and Taking Medication On Board

  • Pack medication in your carry-on bag. If your medication is temperature-sensitive, it is also less likely to be damaged.
  • Carry medication in their original containers to prevent security concerns.
  • Keep a record of the generic names of your medication as brand names vary.
  • Bring a letter from your physician stating you have a legal right to use your medication, especially if you're carrying large amounts.
  • Make sure your medication is not classified as illegal in your country of destination.
  • You may ask a flight attendant for water at any time in order to take your medication.

Camera Film

New screening equipment requires camera film to be packed in carry-on luggage. The best protection for your film is to buy it once you arrive and develop it before you return.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has deployed and will continue to deploy new screening equipment for checked baggage at Canadian airports. This new equipment will damage camera film but will not harm digital disks.

The equipment used at pre-board screening (PBS) areas will not damage film under 800 ISO/ASA. Most amateur photographers use film in the 100-400 ISO/ASA range. However, multiple exposures (more than 5 times) of the same roll of film to PBS x-ray inspection may cause damage. If passengers are concerned about their film, even when placed in their carry-on baggage, they may request a hand search at the PBS area.

This new screening equipment is consistent with the types of equipment being deployed across the United States and around the world.

Passengers may call 1-888-294-2202 or consult the CATSA website at www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca for more information. (Source: Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA)).

Flight Schedule Confirmation

For reasons beyond Air Transat's control, flight departure times can change without prior notice. Be sure to verify the departure time beforehand by visiting the Air Transat or airport website.

Arrival at the Airport

To avoid stressful situations or missing your flight, we recommend arriving at the Air Transat check-in counter at least three hours prior to departure. Click here for more details.

Before Leaving for the Airport

  • Make sure to bring e-tickets, passports and any other required travelling documents.
  • Put newspaper and other deliveries on hold.
  • Program lights to turn on and off automatically and set your house alarm.
  • Arrange care for your pets, plants and landscape, as well as the collection of your mail.

In-Flight Entertainment

Air Transat presents a different movie selection each month that caters to children and families. Find out which movies are currently featured on board this month.

Depending on the flight duration, certain TV shows are featured as well. Comedy, short Spanish lessons for beginners and educational destination videos are also part of our programming.

All types of music are available from your seat’s armrest. If you do not have headphones, they can be purchased at a minimal cost. Standard headphones for CD players, MP3 players and iPods are compatible with our entertainment system.

Those who love to read will enjoy Atmosphere magazine, our exclusive in-flight publication available on board and online.

Passengers travelling in Club Class will receive a complimentary newspaper.

You may bring your own magazines and books on board in your carry-on luggage.

MP3 players of all types are permitted on board; however, be sure to follow the flight attendants’ instructions before use.

On Board Purchases

Please note that Air Transat only accepts credit cards for payments on board.

Your credit card can be used to purchase bottled water, alcoholic beverages, additional snacks and articles from the duty-free boutique.

Non alcoholic beverages can be ordered at any time and are free. However, we recommend waiting until distribution time in order to facilitate the flight attendants’ service. Beverages are offered shortly after takeoff and between meals, except during turbulence.

For your comfort, inflatable neck pillows and blankets are sold on board. Passengers in Economy Class who haven’t upgraded to Option Plus can purchase a Comfort Kit. We recommend its purchase to maximize comfort during overnight flights.

Internet Access and Electrical Outlets

Please note that our aircraft are not equipped with Internet access or electrical outlets.

Seat Selection

Everyone has their own needs and preferences, so we suggest reserving your seat at a minimal cost. Click here for complete details.
